Class 3 (Year 2)

Welcome to Class 3
Welcome to Class 3. The teaching team for this academic year is Miss Tisdell, along with Mrs Valentine and Mr Morant, who will be supporting throughout this year. Mrs Valentine will be covering for Miss Tisdell when out of class on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The Class 3 team cannot wait to help support your children to have a super year of learning, so that the children can be the best version of themselves

All the homework set in Class 3 will be based around the current topic and will often be creative or research-based, with options for the children to choose from. We find this style of homework allows the children to work closely with adults and siblings at home, which (again) leads to deeper and more enjoyable learning for both child and adult.

Please have a look at the ‘End Of Year Expectations’ leaflets attached below to see what skills and knowledge children should have acquired by the end of each year group.

Homework Menu & Homework Books
Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.

They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.

There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!

Knowledge Organiser
A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learned by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.

We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
