Welcome to Class 9
Welcome to Class 9. The teaching team this year is Miss Farrar and Mrs Cooper (who will cover leadership time and PPA every Friday) and we are very fortunate to also have the support of Mrs Brain and Mr Morant. We are all very much looking forward to working with your child!
In Y5/6, we strive to show determination, perseverance, and hard work: believing that with these in mind, we will be successful learners. We have an “I can do it” attitude rather than an “I can't do it” mindset. We believe anything is possible.
As older pupils, we understand the importance of independence in our learning.
However, we also recognise the relevance and necessity of working together as a team to achieve our challenges and goals. We help and assist each other in our learning, and use talk partners to share our fantastic ideas with one another.
We show responsibility as older children in the school by having many important jobs around the school community, showing what fantastic role models we can be for the rest of the school.

Homework Menu & Homework Books
Each half term, children are given a new ‘Homework Menu’ from which they can select a specific number of activities to complete from the different areas of learning.
They can present their work in their homework book by either drawing/writing directly onto the paper or by sticking in printed sheets or photographs. Homework books should be returned to school during the last week of each half term.
There is a lot of choice on each menu and we really hope that pupils have fun working on their chosen projects!
A Knowledge Organiser is a go-to document for a topic/unit of work: each one identifies the key information that children need to have learned by the end of a topic. It also acts as a tool to support children in retaining and retrieving knowledge for life-long learning.
We have developed our own Knowledge Organisers to support the delivery of the curriculum, with each one starting with knowledge children should already know from previous learning. Each organiser also has a quiz to help children recall the knowledge and a list of technical vocabulary with definitions.
