Inspirational Days
To launch their new topics, pupils in several class have already experienced their very first Orchard ‘Inspiration Day’. These special ‘off-timetable’ discovery days are designed to have a special wow factor in order to get pupils really excited about their learning. The start of the week has been no exception!
There were exploding volcanoes in Lower Key Stage 2 on Monday, as well as lots of group work where pupils were set the challenge of creating their own giant world maps, complete with 3d features! Pupils also created artwork inspired by the view of Earth from satellite images.
Mrs Widdowson’s ‘Space Team’ were transported to a galaxy far, far away. Upon crash landing on an unknown planet, they experienced, amongst other things, exploding ‘rocks’, strange slime and some mysterious flashing lights. Armed with their space explorer’s clip board and safety googles, pupils have recorded their discoveries in readiness for reporting back to Earth.
On Wednesday, Class 1 packed their suitcases and went to the seaside … they hunted for pebbles, played outside in the sand, and had great fun paddling in the ‘rock pools’. It was a super, sunny afternoon of fun which included ice lollies and some excellent sand-castle building.
