Dyslexia Policy (2021)
Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that can vary from individual to individual in terms of severity, and in the nature of abilities and difficulties experienced (British Psychological Society, 1999). However, it is generally thought that around 10% of the population has dyslexia (Dyslexia Scotland, 2011).
If not adequately identified and supported, individuals with dyslexia can experience difficulties in education and later employment.
It is therefore important that staff in schools are equipped to support learners with dyslexia through effective assessment, planning, support and review.
